Why plan it with us

One partner for the activity, the venue and theday

The Idea Hunter plans and runs corporate team building in Toronto and across Canada. We match the format to your group size, your goal and the time you have, then bring the facilitators, supplies and setup, and run the activity to a written run of show.

A facilitator brings the equipment, runs the clock and resets between rounds, so nobody on your team has to organize anything. Your people take part instead of running it.

We start with what you want your people to feel walking out the door, then choose the format.

Team building activities

Choose a format and we handle therest

Real formats from our Idea Menu, grouped by what they do for a team.
01

Compete

Friendly competition that gets teams talking.

Dragon boat team race

Coaching on land and on the water, then real racing, with a coach and steerer in every boat.
Up to 100 people in crews of 15 to 20. 2 hours. Warm months.

Chocolate sculpture challenge

Teams build the tallest freestanding chocolate sculpture, judged on teamwork, creativity and height.
About 60 minutes.

Chef-led cooking challenge

Chefs guide teams to cook together or compete head to head, then everyone shares the meal.
Up to 100 in a studio kitchen, or at your venue.

Hosted survey game show

A live host runs a classic survey game with questions written about your company.
About 30 to 200 people.

Axe throwing and digital archery

A coached competition with professional guides at every target. The mobile version comes to your venue.
02

Create

Hands-on builds where every person adds a piece.

Build-a-mural

Each person paints one numbered section, and the pieces join into one mural for the office.

Drum and dance workshop

A cultural introduction, then percussion and dance groups that reunite in a drum circle.

Chain-reaction build

Each team builds a machine that links to the next, and one pull sets off the whole room.

Brick-build challenge

Teams build together with toy building bricks, guided by a professional brick artist.
03

Give back

Activities that end with something donated or planted.

Charity kit-packing build

Teams package supplies for a local charity matched to the group.

Build-and-donate mini golf

Teams build holes from non-perishable items, play every hole, then the items are donated.

Tree-planting wish wall

Guests hang notes on seed paper, each one representing a tree planted, and the notes go to community gardens.
04

Recharge

Lower-key formats, including options for remote teams.

Improv skills workshop

Improv exercises on presentation, adaptability, teamwork and leadership.

Team yoga reset

An expert-led session tailored to the energy level and goals of the group.

Team poetry

A professional poet leads writing exercises, then hosts a coffeehouse-style open mic.
3 hours. Also runs online.

Virtual paint party

A guided painting session your team can join from anywhere.

Activities shown are a sample. Format, group size and location are confirmed on the discovery call.

Match the format to the goal

Choose by what your team needs todo

Choose by group size first, then by the time you have, then by how much physical activity your team is comfortable with.

Break the ice

An opening icebreaker that turns the whole room into one percussion band, or a giant custom word search people return to through the event.

Compete as one room

A hosted game show with questions about your company, or dragon boat crews racing on the water.

Solve problems together

A timed build, such as the chocolate challenge or a chain-reaction machine, where a team's communication habits show.

Reconnect

Lower-energy formats that leave room for conversation, for a new team, a hard quarter or senior people who rarely sit together.

Give back

A build that ends with supplies packed for a local charity, or notes on seed paper that go to community gardens.

Stay at your venue

Mobile axe throwing, sim racing, golf and VR stations and a mobile escape room come to you, so nobody crosses the city mid-afternoon.
Around the activity

What we handle so your team canplay

  • The format, matched to your group size, goal and schedule
  • Facilitators, plus coaches and safety staff for physical formats
  • Equipment, supplies, setup and the reset between rounds
  • Venue needs: floor space, power, parking and load-in
  • Where it sits in the day, so a physical game does not follow a heavy lunch
  • Roles for people who would rather not compete: judges, scorekeepers and an audience

FAQs

Frequently askedquestions

Who plans corporate team building in Toronto?

Activity companies, venues and corporate event planning companies all run team building. The Idea Hunter is a corporate event planning and production company with 600+ vetted acts in Toronto and Ontario. We match the format to your group, then handle the facilitators, supplies, setup and run of show.

How much does corporate team building cost?

Team building packages start at $10,000, and we recommend a minimum of 50 guests. The final figure depends on group size, the number of formats, the venue and the run time, so we do not publish prices for individual activities.

How far in advance should we book team building?

For peak season, September through December and March through May, book 8 to 12 weeks in advance. For summer team building and water formats such as dragon boat racing, book 12 to 16 weeks out.

What team building works for 100 or more people?

Give the whole room one shared format, split into crews or stations that run at the same time, and bring the activity to your venue where you can. Dragon boat racing takes up to 100 people per session, in crews of 15 to 20.

Can you bring the activity to our office or venue?

Yes. Many formats come to you, including mobile axe throwing and digital archery, sim racing, golf and VR stations and a mobile escape room. Each has venue needs, such as floor space, power or parking, and we confirm them with your venue.

Do you run team building for remote teams?

Yes. The virtual paint party and team poetry both run online, so a remote team can take part from anywhere.

Does everyone have to take part?

No. Invite people to play rather than requiring it, and give everyone a way to take part. Judges, scorekeepers and an audience work for people who do not want to compete.

Do you plan team building outside Toronto?

Yes. The Idea Hunter works across Canada, and our Idea Menu includes acts in Ontario, the East Coast, the West Coast and the Prairies. For a multi-day program, see our corporate retreat planning.
